Community Outreach

Service is first and foremost about the heart, seeing with our heart and then hearing that call of Love to reach out to others with a compassionate response.

The goal of our Outreach Ministry mission is to provide multiple channels for our membership to express and deepen its compassion by giving our love, time and resources to the greater Northeast Ohio Community and beyond.

Renaissance Unity members have joined together participating in these and other “opportunities of joy”:

• writing letters to our men and women in uniform overseas
• collecting eyeglasses for New Eyes for the Needy
• sharing lunch and fellowship with the St. Augustine community of those who experience vision and hearing loss,
• celebrating Sunday service and song with Antioch Christian Fellowship Church and then sharing a potluck meal
• creating and distributing backpacks for schoolchildren in East Cleveland
• collecting, packing and distributing Thanksgiving food ‘baskets’ to families in East Cleveland
• sorting and packing unused and donated medical supplies for Medwish International
• enjoying several evenings filled with board games and fun with children from New Life Community

NEW:  Backpacks for Success

Backpacks for Success is designed to inspire religious communities, secular organizations, and individuals to provide backpacks and school supplies for local school-age children in Northeast Ohio whose families have limited resources.  Information on the above website provides ideas and a step-by-step process for carrying out a Backpacks for Success project in your congregation or organization.  With backpacks and school supplies, our children can more fully participate in getting the education that is their inherent human right and together we will increase community awareness and support for the children of our region.

Purpose of the Outreach Team:

• Discern and evaluate service opportunities for RSC that are consistent with the values and teachings of Unity.
• Educate our membership about these opportunities.
• Organize the means and methods for members to participate in these opportunities.
• Provide participants opportunities for reflection on their experiences of service and how it informs their consciousness and touches their hearts.
• Evaluate participation in these activities.
• Consider member ideas for involvement.
